Google Gemini
Interaction Design, Visual Design
2023-Present
It's not every day you ship a product that ends up on the homepage of the New York Times.
I was one of the first 5 designers tasked with creating Google's flagship Gemini mobile app, responsible for creating the guiding design foundations and designing a fully multimodal input framework from scratch. It was far from a traditional product environment, with quick pivots required almost on a daily basis.
I took the project from beginning ideation phases, through a successful pitch to Sundar, all the way to one of Google's most high-profile product launches of the past decade.
My manager summed it up well—“...there is no aspect of the product that Peter has not himself designed, been asked to improve or reimagine by peers and execs alike.”
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Working quickly and collaborating effectively across engineering, product, and UX—all in a highly ambiguous environment
• Designing an innovative multimodal input framework that allows users to interact with Gemini through text, voice, or visuals
• Codifying diverse sets of explorations into a cohesive set of design foundations for iOS and Android
